Alphonso’s Quarteira Review

Alponso’s is a restaurant that I would like to recommend to those who enjoy traditional Portuguese gourmet cuisines, this restaurant is just on the one side of the Quarteira promenade in a small alleyway next to Dom José Hotel. As you can see the Table settings are typically Portuguese style settings. They play 80’s music to add to the ambiance.

To start my apatite off I ordered this creamy legumes soup with a lovely Piano red wine from the Douro region, bold, smooth and well balanced. The legumes soup was very creamy and palatable.

The Piano reserve red wine from Douro is bold, and a well balance red wine with oak and nutty notes, I also like how they dress the neck of the wine bottle with a serviette, this is traditionally done in most Portuguese restaurants.

Pork and clams with chips, topped with coriander. The pork was tasty, spicy and succulent. The clams were larger than the usual clams you get, and the coriander just brought this dish together. I must say a very generous helping and well worth the money spent @ only 17.95€

Some other delicious gourmet cuisines you can order off their menu. Cataplanas, lobster tail, batter fish and salad.

This dessert is called romanticá and as you can see, it looks so good. I forgot to take a photo and got stuck into it immediately 🤣😂🤣 that being said, it’s a must try for those special date nights to put that cherry on the cake.

dessert-Alphonsos.I have given Alphonso’s restaurant an 8 out of 10, this is a good rating and I do recommend coming to this restaurant if you love Portuguese cuisines.
